I've been learning how to use Garageband. I've also been learning that I can't sing. Of course I've known this but this time I have recorded proof. Oh well.

All of the effects that you can add to your voice, instrument, etc. sound surprisingly good. There are also TONS of options with the effects. For example, if you choose to record a guitar real instrument track, you can add amp simulation. Take your pick of American Clean to British Crunch, just to name a couple. You can also add "pedal" effects, choose from overdrive to chorus. Like I said before, tons of options that sound good. The USB interface I have

also has inputs for electric guitars, which will come in handy I'm sure. There's still a lot I've got to figure out (editing, loops, etc.), but it's gonna be really fun.
