It's on its way

I ordered my ibook yesterday. Hopefully I'll have it by the end of this week or the beginning of next. Now I've just gotta get high-speed internet at the house.

Phone calls in the middle of the day

Nothing pisses me off more than a phone call that wakes me up. Especially when it's the boss calling me in to work on my night off. However, I do enjoy the rare occasion when Jerome happens to call, even though it wakes me up. I enjoy these calls b/c I know there's either A) An interesting story or B) Good news. Plus he likes to ramble and by the time the conversation is finished, I am wide awake and unable to go to back to sleep. Here's a conversation from the other day:

Editors note: This conversation may or may not have taken place. I could have very well dreamed the whole thing.

jt: Hello(in my scraggly morning voice)

Jerome: Hey man, are you working this weekend?

jt: no(still groggy and totally out of it)

Jerome: I'm probably gonna be able to get some paper this weekend

jt: Really?

Jerome: Yeah man, it'll be awesome to have some for DBT!

jt: Yeah, that would be awesome

Jerome: I gotta go to (insert bar name here) and pick it up

jt: Yeah, I know where that's at

Jerome: O.k. I don't, so you're going with me

jt: Alright

Jerome: Guess what else?

jt: What?

Jerome: I've got VIP camping passes to the Fire Lake Festival

jt: What's that?

Jerome: Dude, it's some big ass festival in Cherokee, SC and I got free VIP passes thru the radio station and I got 150 bucks and they're gonna give more money once it's over. Here's a list of all the bands that are going to be there.

At this point he names every single act that is going to be at this festival. Of course he calls Sugar Ray, Sugar Gay

jt: Haha, Sugar Gay

Jerome: Yeah, you seen that shit on VH1 right?

jt: Yeah, what a shithead. Maybe he'll sing that song he did with Shania.

Jerome: It'd be cool to see Devo on some trip At this point Jerome goes into the chorus of "Whip it"

jt: Haha

Jerome: You may have to buy a camping pass, but you'll be able to hang with us

jt: That's cool

Jerome: Yeah, guess what else? He doesn't give me a chance to guess Son Volt is coming to the Orangepeel!

jt: I saw that on the Orangepeel's website

Jerome: I get to interview them!

jt: Sweet

Jerome: Of course, you'll be my photographer

jt: You know this

Jerome: Well, I'll call you this weekend and we'll go get the stuff

jt: Yeah, get the stuff

Jerome: Alright man, oh, did I wake you?

jt: Yeah, but it's alright. As long as I get about 5hrs sleep, I'll be alright. Talk to ya this weekend

Jerome: Later

jt: Later

Warning: Rant!!!

You know, Rockin’ Robin’s post about 99 problems got me thinking about my little bout with the blues. I know the cause – WORK. This job is starting to get to me. If you guys knew half of the shit I put up with on a nightly basis, you’d understand. There’s a key word in that last sentence that adds to the stress – NIGHTLY. Working 3rd isn’t terrible but you do miss out on a lot, like sleep. I don’t have a set sleep schedule, plus I don’t have a set eating schedule. It takes a lot out of you. Dealing with pissed off customers sucks the worst. If I didn’t have to talk to those assbags, then I’d probably be alright (our customer service group goes home at 11pm, then all the calls and left over troubles roll to us). Not having every weekend off sucks too. This shit has been going on 2 and half years. I just need a vacation from this place, more than a week. Alright, I guess I’ve bitched enough for one night. I’m just thankful I have a job that pays me enough to be out on my own and puts food in my belly. It could always be worse.

Well, I do have tonight and tomorrow night off. Gomez and I will enjoy cold beverages at Daytona’s I’m sure.

EDIT!!!!!!!! I just found out this morning that I got a raise b/c I kick so much ass. The job sucks, but I guess that's the price I pay for the money I make. Hmmm, that last sentence sounds like it should be in a song.

America! ...Fuck Yeah!

Happy 4th to everyone. It's the first time I've had the holiday off in 3 years, well the latter part of the holiday anyway. I'm looking forward to going to a neighborhood cookout over at my dads. Lots of beer and tons of fireworks, it oughta be interesting. Have fun and be careful!
